IMPHAL, Mar 27 : In the ongoing series of events 11 Assam Rifles organized a music and folk dance competition at Indoor Stadium, Tamenglong on March 25.  The programme was inaugurated by Jacintha Lazarus, IAS, Dy Commissioner, Tamenglong.  A total of 18 teams from all across the district took part in the competition. 

The participants in their traditional dresses displayed the rich heritage of their respective tribes in beautifully coordinated dances and music. This event was also witnessed and highly appreciated by all local people and organizations.

In the end the Officiating Commandant distributed prizes to the winners and expressed his gratitude to the people of Tamenglong for making this event a grand success.

Meena bazar and various refreshment stalls were very much appreciated by the locals. Various village chairmen, authorities and ward members congratulated and appreciated the event and expressed hope that more events of such nature will be conducted in future. 

The 23 Assam Rifles celebrated Assam Rifles Day with full pomp and show on 23 -24 March. Run for Fun was organised in the premises of Battalion HQ at Shangshak wherein a total of 95 children of near by villages participated in the run and prizes were distributed to the winners. The event was followed by weapon and equipment display for all the civilians.

A friendly football and volleyball match was also conducted at battalion HQ with local teams and the excitement of the locals was a treat to watch. The events were well appreciated by all the civilians.

At 17 Assam Rifles the event commenced with sainik sammelan for all troops followed by a meeting of all ex-servicemen of the AR. A lavish barakhana was organised for all troops and ex-servicemen alongwith musical show.
