Manipur cops defeat Cosmo 12-3

Imphal, Nov. 23: Manipur Police Sports Club drubbed Cosmopolitan Youth Club 12-3 to enter the semi-final of the 3rd G. Khelchandra Memorial Men’s Open Hockey Tournament 2009 played at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium today.

However, despite the loss, Cosmopolitan still made it to the semi-final as they finished runners-up from the other group.

Manipur Police Sports Club will now take on Uchekon Youth Athletic Club while Hockey Union and Cosmopolitan Youth Club clash in the semi-finals tomorrow.

Manipur police made the first strike in the fifth minute as S. Tarun Singh came up with the opening goal, flicking it in from a P. Adeva goalmouth cross. He also scored the next two for the cops. Cosmopolitan Youth Club also came with a reducer as S. Kash scored in the 13th minute.

For the cops, Th. Birjit, P. Priyokumar, P. Adeva Singh, S. Rabi and M. Premchand were the goal scorers. S. Kash and L. Piter were the two other goalscorers for Cosmopolitan.
