IMPHAL, Jan 11: With the aim of providing round the clock service to customer of SBI and others banks as well as to lessen the queues outside ATMs, the State Bank of India launched four more ATM boots, including one E-centre at MG avenue Imphal on Monday.

The ATM boots were inaugurated and handed over to the general public by the Padmashree N Khelchandra Singh, former president of Manipur Shahitya Parishad on behalf of SBI general manager Jyoti today.

Speaking to media persons, assistant general manager of SBI Imphal branch M.A. Ahmed disclosed that at present the state has about more than 20 ATM centre in the Imphal areas, and the problems of long queue is due to the SBI giving excess to its ATMs facilities all banks.

He further said that the SBI is also planning to keep a separated ATM boot for the senior citizens and pensioners for their easy withdrawal of income and others.

Deputy manager SBI Imphal branch also said that the biggest hurdle in running ATMs is the poor power supply, and for this the SBI Imphal branch has already deposited round about Rs. 9.5 lakhs to the state power department.

If concern department does not cooperate and give power regularly, it would be difficult for SBI to serve the general public to the desired level.

As part of the function, self help groups working under the sponsorship of SBI Imphal branch under Drishtee Alliance, difference business representatives exhibited their product like doll, mushroom, kouna, wool items, cotton cloths, silk items, soaps and detergents, fige, needles works and embroidery etc at MG avenue today.
