CHENNAI: The 17 Manipuri children, who were recently rescued by the CB-CID from a house where they were ill-treated and sexually harassed, have thanked the Tamil Nadu government for its efforts to rehabilitate them.
They communicated this to a team of officials comprising Social Defence Commissioner Nirmala, CB-CID, ADGP Archana Ramasundaram, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) chairperson Dr P Manorama and senior officials of the social welfare department, who had met them at the Children’s Home at Kellys here on Wednesday.
The Manipur CWC told the officials that Rose, who had worked as a warden at Reach Home Children Foundation at Sholinganallur and had left it some time ago following sexual harassment by Immanuel, the head of the NGO, had reached Manipur safely.
Officials are on the look out for Immanuel.
They are also trying to track down three more children, who the rescued ones claimed were still under Immanuel’s custody.
