With the economic-blockade in Manipur
spearheaded by the SHDDC reaching 85th-day; fresh round of talks between
the agitating group and Manipur government remained inconclusive.
The parley which started late Sunday night (9.30 p.m.-11.40 p.m.)
initiated by the state government, was to be held again on Monday at
chief minister’s bungalow at 3 p.m. however, representative of the SHDDC
failed to turn up for the talk. It was reported that none of the SHDDC
leaders could be contacted.
However, source quoting SHDDC insiders said that the committee decided
not to attend the meeting as the conditions put forward by the
government team led by chief minister O. Ibobi was not in a condition to
be agreed by SHDDC.
During Sunday night’s talks at CM’s bungalow, SHDDC insisted the
government to assure to inaugurate the Sadar Hills district on or before
November 10.
However, a government sources said Ibobi stood firm with the
government’s decision, to wait for the final report of the Committee on
Re-organisation of District Administrative and Police Boundary.
SHDDC leaders said they were unhappy with the government’s attitude for
delaying with its report. They also reminded the government’s
commitments of inaugurating the Sadar Hills district with the completion
of the construction of mini-secretariat building being constructed at
Kangpokpi which has almost completed. SHDDC also demanded the government
to declare the Sadar Hills district with the inauguration of the
mini-secretariat.
