Imphal, Jul 6 : Manipur Home Minister Gaikhangam today informed the state Assembly today that the Army was conducting an inquiry into the death of three Manipuris at Dimapur and the Manipur government will find out the truth behind their killings.
Raising the issue, Dr I Ibohabi said the three were killed in Dimapur in an alleged 'fake encounter' in March 2010 by the Army.
He said the three were shot dead behind the Officers' mess at Rangapahar by the personnel of 3 Corps Intelligence and Surveillance Unit.
It was further informed that the Manipuris were picked up by the unit after an operation in Dimapur. Later Army personnel dumped the bodies in Assam .
Former Army Chief Gen VK Singh had revealed that he had asked the Eastern Command to probe it but nothing had been done.
The three were identified as Phijam Naobi of Thangmeiband, R K Ronel (35) of Sagolband Sayang Pukhri Mapal and Th Prem of Langol Laimanai.
Opposition MLAs said under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act no action can be taken up against the army personnel and the matter involves three states, Manipur, Assam and Nagaland and demanded that the NIA or the CBI should be asked to probe the matter.
