60-year-old Manipuri woman raped, rapist house set afire

The youth identified as Md Sanayai allegedly raped the woman while she was working in an isolated paddy field at Somrei village.

A 60-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a 25-year-old youth at Yairipok area in Imphal East district of Manipur, police said on Thursday.

The youth identified as Md Sanayai allegedly raped the woman while she was working in an isolated paddy field at Somrei village, about 30 km south east of here, yesterday.

Soon after the incident, enraged local residents set afire and destroyed the house of the youth.

Police later arrested Sanayai.
