IMPHAL, Dec 13 – Manipur observed the Nupi Lal Memorial Day across the State today. The main State level observation was held at the historic Nupi Lal memorial complex by blocking the road in the heart of the city here today.
Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam were the chief guest and president at the observation which was also attended by other members of the Council of Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, MLAs and officials.
The day was observed remembering the tireless and courageous efforts made by the Manipuri women during the Nupi Lal or Women’s War against the rulers in 1904 and 1939.
The Nupi Lal observation committee also observed the day by holding a public meeting here today.
Earlier in the morning, the 22nd State Level Nupi Lal Ningshig Lamjel memorial run was held with the active participation of more than 500 women.
