GUWAHATI, Jun 30 – The Northeast Frontier Railway (Construction) organisation has completed work on the Tunnel No. 14 in the Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal new broad gauge rail line project.
The task was completed on June 26, NFR (Construction) Senior PRO DC Borah said. This is seventh tunnel constructed as part of the new project by the Indian Railways.
NFR (Construction) plans to complete at least 12 tunnels out of the total 46 envisaged in the new line during this financial year.
So far, 19.5 km out of 39.4 km tunneling work has been completed between Jiribam-Tupul section since the tunnel works effectively started in 2011-12, he added.
