IMPHAL, Aug 6 : Around 300 bags of Urea were distributed today at three different places in the Naoriya Pakhanglakpa constituency by MLA, RK Anand.

Speaking to the media on the occasion the MLA said that the urea was distributed at the rate fixed by the government of Manipur, which is Rs. 400 per bag. He also revealed that the expenditure incurred in transportation of the urea was borne by him personally.

RK Anand also stated that the blockade supporters were not having any idea of the history of Manipur. After 68 day’s long economic blockade which was imposed on the national highways 39 and 53 by the UNC, ANSAM and NSF, the UNC had again imposed a blockade for 20 more days on the highways demanding compensation to the injured and those killed in the Mao incident and withdrawal of the state forces deployed in the hill districts.

RK Anand asserted that UNC are criminal and is not considerate towards the right to life of the people of Manipur, and their own community also. He mentioned that the record should be put straight for peaceful co-existence of all the communities in the state. A recent press statement by certain desperate Naga groups alleged that Meiteis are not indigenous people, RK Anand stated while questioning if Meitei are not indigenous who really they thought are the bonafide indigenous people of Manipur.

Erasing the annals of history some people with wild ideology and selfish motive were trying to destroy the integrity and peace among the communities, Anand said.

The concept put up by NSCN(IM) on the demand for a new entity along with territorial claims was self created and has now been blown out of proportion, he said while adding that it has created social chaos and triggered animosity among the different peace loving communities of the state.

He asked the Naga human rights organizations why they were hiding from the fact that the Naga frontier groups and NSCN were the one’s who were harassing them although these organizations were supporting them. Those who collect unlawful taxes and harass the people are robbers, he added.

He appealed to the UNC that everybody in the state were citizens of Manipur and so the blockade should be removed for their sake. Peaceful co-existence is not only for some communities. Everybody should be part of the peace process in the state, he said.
