Imphal: Film Forum Manipur (FFM) has levied a six-month ban on six Manipuri actors for not participating in the forum's public campaigns and activities. FFM comprises different constituent groups of actors, directors, producers, editors, technicians, cinematographers, makeup artists and cine exhibitors of the state.
An apex body of all film-related units of Manipur, FFM joined the statewide movement for introduction of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Manipur. It staged a sit-in at Keishampat junction in the heart of Imphal on Sunday.
"We reserve the last Sunday of every month as 'cine-off' day. All FFM members can take part in public campaigns on any major issue affecting the state. We organized a demonstration at Keishampat on Sunday, demanding implementation of ILP," FFM chairman L Surjakanta Sharma told this reporter on Monday.
"Despite providing prior information to all our constituent members, the six actors did not turn up," he added.
Punishing them for their 'defiance', FFM has decided to bar them from shooting for films for six months, he said, adding the forum would continue to join and support public movement for the cause of the state.
